                                                                  This recipe for Gingerbread Cake is the perfect snack cake for anytime of year.

                                                                  Ingredients
                                                                  • Yes No 2 1/2 cup flour
                                                                  • Yes No 2 tsp baking soda
                                                                  • Yes No 2 tsp baking powder
                                                                  • Yes No 1/2 tsp salt
                                                                  • Yes No 1/2 tsp cloves, whole
                                                                  • Yes No 1/2 tsp nutmeg
                                                                  • Yes No 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
                                                                  • Yes No 1/2 cup butter
                                                                  • Yes No 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
                                                                  • Yes No 1 cup molasses
                                                                  • Yes No 2 egg
                                                                  • Yes No 1 tbsp grated ginger
                                                                  • Yes No powdered sugar
                                                                  • Yes No cream
                                                                  • Preheat oven 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 9x13 pan. In a medium bowl, combine first ingredients with wire whisk. In large bowl, cream butter. Add in powdered sugar and combine. Add molasses. Combine completely. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients alternately with boiling water. Mix until smooth. Hand stir in freshly grated ginger. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until tested done. Cool completely in pan or wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before cutting into squares. Serve with whipped cream. Makes 24 squares. Notes in the Margin: * May substitute with 2-1/2 teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Spice, Apple Pie Spice or Mixed Spice
